I have said this for a long time now but figured I would make a visual for everyone.
We all love our vehicles and all know they are never perfect. This works for everything and quickly explains where money goes. The law is your vehicle can either be CHEAP, FAST, or RELIABLE...but you can only pick two. This really helps when planning project vehicles as well!

Which two are the Cygnet?

Damn, right off the bat I have a hole in my theory. Thanks lol

hmmm.....
![]() 12/19/2013 at 11:47 |

Maximum two.
Minimum zero.
The theory stands.

The Cygnet has it's own circle in hell.

Very nice. Similar is true of the object of so many hobbies.

Law 1.1: If British or Italian, pick 1.

Decently cheap and reliable. Mod it and the choices switch

BAHAHAHA
I came here to post that exact same thing. I leave you with a BRM H16

They all started out as cheap cars and became expensive. Lemons and Chump cars have $500 basic cars but have thousands in safety equipment and tires...not cheap....fun level through the roof though!

I want one so bad!

Ok what would you call it because I know my answers...
![]() 12/19/2013 at 12:05 |

Cheap and fast. Definitely not reliable.

For a stock car yes, I agree. Fast for what it is and not expensive.

Like x10000000
![]() 12/19/2013 at 12:08 |

haha thanks! it just came to me.
![]() 12/19/2013 at 12:08 |

Indeed.
Modded, different story. Plus, the reliability drops with every mod. HAHA!
![]() 12/19/2013 at 12:09 |
|
LOL so the car can ONLY become faster!
![]() 12/19/2013 at 12:12 |

I know it. I had (past tense) an interest in getting a LeMons car until I read the rules. That $500 tuns into $5K real fast.
![]() 12/19/2013 at 12:13 |
|
It really does, I have the rule book and may eventually get my friends on board to build something for it.
![]() 12/19/2013 at 12:17 |
|
Exactly. I am sure there is some equation explaining it all. Increase in power reduces cheapness and reliability.
+P = -C + -R
![]() 12/19/2013 at 12:18 |
|
cheap is relative I guess.
![]() 12/19/2013 at 12:18 |

Yeah, teamwork would spread the cost out better. There is a lot of used parts on their site, though.
![]() 12/19/2013 at 12:19 |

That is very true.

Looking at buying a Fiesta ST around summertime, this graphic definitely illustrates what I've gathered about the car so far.

This theory holds true. Another adage is the amount of parts dsmer's have tucked in their closet =< resale value
Actually I got all this for bangin prices incl that bb garret t3/4. It fits on the stock(evo 3) manifold so why the funk not. Still, great balance of the three if you can find an overall unmolested 1G with a 4 bolt LSD rear (not that they cant be found 2nd hand) which is pretty much impossible sooo...yeah. Not gonna lie I've driven mine for maybe 3 of the 7ish years I've owned itfor various reasons but its too stupid fast to sell even if I stuck with the stock(for an evo3) 16G turbo as there are still records being broken with that setup.
too stupid, panicky, jaw clenching fast to sell...that's what I keep telling myself

I test drove one when I was shopping and I loved it, ended up with the Focus ST because of the extra space and POWA. The Fiesta was a blast and I would have totally gotten it if not for the needed space.
![]() 12/19/2013 at 15:34 |
|
Yeah, I think the Focus would put me just a bit over my price range. :( But I'm moving to Chicago for a new job next week and get a supplier discount as one of my benefits, so I'm thinking a Fiesta ST will serve me well and still be affordable with the increased living cost.

anyone think it's ironic this looks like a three pointed star?
meaning, used mercs give you some of each!

I love a good 1st gen DSM. I used to own one. It was beat up on the outside, but quick. Sold it to a guy and I delivered it to his house. As the guy was taking me home, I regretted selling it to him. That was about 5 or 6 years ago. I still regret it.

Coolness. Y'know you're a thousand bucks away from another...I painted mine Jaguar britiish racing green and the vocational school kids threw in a green pearl for free. Overcast it looks like the normal solid color but in sunlight it looks like a pimped out drift car. It grew on me. Then the mechanics scratched the hood so I had to replace it with a cf one I could not pass up u know the 80bl stock hood required a solid clean& jerk. It's the little things that keep you going..

I'll be in the market for another toy car in the spring most likely. If I can find a decent AWD one, I may snag it up. Or a good GVR4 if I can find one in my budget.
